Fenugreek Seeds

Fenugreek seeds are small, measuring about 5 mm in length. They are hard and yellowish-brown, though the shade can vary. The seeds are angular, with some being oblong, some rhombic, and others almost cube-shaped, roughly 3 mm (1/8″) per side. Each seed has a deep groove that almost divides it in two. They are available either whole and dried or as a dull yellow powder made from roasted seeds.Medicinally, fenugreek seeds were used long before they became popular as a spice. They are rich in vitamin C and high in protein. It has three-part leaves and pea-like flowers and thrives in fertile, well-drained, alkaline soil under full sunlight. The plant typically grows up to three feet tall and emits a sweet hay-like aroma when dried.
